Season 5: Meet Team Black!
Meet Kaley and Kristin Dignen of Team Black from Season 5 of Relative Race!
Find out what these identical twins agree and disagree on in our Team Black interview below:
Kaley: Hey, I'm Kaley.
Kristin: I'm Kristin Dignen.
Kaley: We're from Orlando, Florida.
Kristin: And we're identical twins.
Kaley: And we're Team Black.
BYUtv: Tell us about your family.
Kristin: We have another brother. He is thirty… three?
Kristin: Two. His name's Austin, and that's the only other sibling that we have.
Kaley: And we have a mom.
Kaley: And we're currently looking for our dad.
BYUtv: What is your game strategy?
Kristin: I think one of our strategies, probably our main one, is because we are twins, that we have a bond that the other teams may not have. And so, like, it's crazy to say, but we think alike and we do the same things, like not even realizing that we are…
Kaley: That can get in the way.
Kristin: Yeah, but we also have that as a strategy because we don't have to be, like, verbally…
Kaley: Talk it out.
Kristin: Talk it out loud, we can just know by the way we look how to finish something or how to get something done, just because, like, we've been so close our whole life.
BYUtv: Who are you hoping to meet?
Kaley: So, we're hoping to meet our dad. He left when we were four, so we haven't seen him or really known anything about him since, or everything that we've known is just little facts that mom told us.
Kristin: And we're also in search of our dad along with our dad's brothers and sisters, and then all our cousins. We don't know anybody on that side except for one person.
BYUtv: What is your biggest strength?
Kaley: Our biggest strength together is definitely the bond.
Kristin: And teamwork.
Kaley: Sounds crazy but we work a lot off of our body language.
Kaley: We're super competitive too, and we work best in challenges together. Yeah, I think that's our strength.
Kristin: Yeah, I think when we're doing stuff alone, we still like can be successful but we've actually learned that when we're together and we put our strengths together, that we do, we form a really, really strong team.
BYUtv: What is your biggest weakness?
Kristin: Being twins comes, like, being dominant, and so we have also struggled with the fact that she wants to take charge, when I think I know what's right and then vice versa. So, I think that's gonna be a struggle.
BYUtv: What city would you love to visit on the race?
Kaley: I would love to visit New York City, or visit Arizona. I'm not going to name a city because I'd be happy with anything. [laughing]
Kristin: Those are states.
Kaley: No, I know, but I'm saying anywhere in those areas.
Kristin: I love to travel, so anywhere is good for me.
BYUtv: What is your road trip snack of choice?
Kristin: Tell us, Kaley. [laughing]
Kristin: Gluten free, dairy free, water with lemon, water with mint. What else?
Kaley: Kristin, fried chicken, sweet tea.
Kristin: Oh [laughing] I'm not bringing chicken on the road.
Kaley: No, I think she'll really eat anything, but I'm stocking up on snacks.
BYUtv: What is one thing you can’t live without?
Kristin: I would never live without my planner. [laughing]
Kaley: So typical!
Kristin: You would never live without your phone.
Kaley: My mother. I would never live without my mom. She is a pretty big--
Kristin: Well, yeah, I agree with that too, but I was thinking item.
Kaley: She's pretty much this huge support system, so, yeah, that'd be my answer.
