"In my career I have had many wonderful things happen to me," LaVell Edwards once said. "But all is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the truly important things in my life."

On Thursday morning, December 29, 2016, the legendary former BYU football head coach passed away at the age of 86. Word broke live during the morning BYU Sports Nation episode, and tribute and homage soon followed in a special 4 PM live episode commemorating Edwards.

From 1972 to 2000, Edwards changed BYU football both on and off the field. Memories of his legacy—as both a stoic leader and caring mentor—were fondly shared on BYU Sports Nation by former players like Steve Young, Ty Detmer, and Kalani Sitake, and fellow coaches like Ron McBride, Urban Meyer, and Kyle Whittingham took to Twitter with their thoughts.

To celebrate and honor LaVell Edwards' life, career, and influence, BYUtv will air special programming. See the program schedule in the graphic below (find the high resolution version on the BYUtv Facebook Page).
