Any film that features leprechauns and Sean Connery is a guaranteed winner. That's why you'll want to turn to BYUtv on Friday night at 9pm ET/7pm MT to see Walt Disney's Celtic classic, Darby O'Gill and the Little People

The film tells the story of Darby O'Gill, an Irish gentleman who is captured by mischievous leprechauns. O'Gill engages in a battle of wits with their tiny king, outsmarting him and inheriting three wishes. His daughter and her suitor (played by Connery) are caught up in the magical mayhem, with the movie culminating in a chilling encounter with an ancient banshee. It's Irish folklore at its most fun.

To prepare for the movie, Walt Disney personally traveled to Ireland before its production to learn more about traditional Irish fantasy. Disney hired Sean Connery while he was also preparing to appear in the first James Bond film, Dr. No. Darby O'Gill and the Little People was released in June 1959 to critical acclaim. Notable film critic and historian Leonard Maltin stated, "Darby O'Gill and the Little People is not only one of Disney's best films, but is certainly one of the best fantasies ever put on film."

So gather the family and enjoy what is perhaps the best St. Patrick's Day movie on record. Darby O'Gill comes to BYUtv on Friday at 7pm MT and again at 10pm MT.
